(metaphysics) The doctrine (opposed to eternalism) that the universe was created by a god (usually the Christian god) out of nothingness.
(religion) The doctrine (opposed to Darwinism) that living things, and especially human beings, were created by a god in the recent historical past and did not evolve from earlier life forms.
